Finnish telecommunications equipment vendor Nokia says it has signed 17 new commercial 5G deals in the third quarter of the year, bringing the total signed with individual customers to 100. Including paid trials, the total number of commercial engagements is said to be 160.

内蒙快三预测一定牛In a statement, the company said it had a role in all 5G early adopter trials, with agreements with the top four American CSPs and the top three in Japan and South Korea.

It said, this week it had signed a new 5G deal with BT and a renewed deal with Elisa in Finland.

内蒙快三预测一定牛"Nokia's 5G portfolio is also gaining traction amongst enterprises," the company said.

"Enterprise customers now make up 12% of Nokia's 5G deals, with recent private wireless deployments including Deutsche Bahn, Toyota Production Engineering and Sandvik. Nokia also boasts a 180-strong portfolio of private wireless customers, many of whom are expected to migrate to 5G."

It said the increasing momentum among CSPs and enterprises was being driven by advances in its technology.

"In February, Nokia revealed it was first in the world to pioneer 4G and 5G network slicing, which enables operators to deliver unique, isolated 'slices' of the end-to-end network to their customers, tailored to specific applications," the company said.

"In April, Nokia introduced the industry's first Dynamic Spectrum Sharing solution that supports spectrum sharing between 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G.

"In July, the company announced it can migrate five million legacy 4G radio units to 5G via a software upgrade, making it easier for operators to move to 5G.

"Nokia made its 5G standalone private wireless technology commercially available in July – the first network equipment provider to do so.

"And in August, Nokia contributed to the world's first large-scale 5G SA launch with T-Mobile in the US."

Nokia Mobile Networks president Tommi Uitto said: "We are thrilled to have passed this 5G milestone. We know we still have work to do and that the market remains highly competitive.

"But, we are moving fast – and these wins make it clear that our progress is being validated by customers. We deeply appreciate their ongoing support and are committed to delivering for them."

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
