Huawei's Matebook 14 now available in Australia for $2499

By

Actively targeting "young professionals with an eye for style and performance", Huawei's latest ultra-portable and lightweight 14-inch notebook promises between 10 and up to 14.7 hours of battery, a 2K 14-inch screen with 3:2 ratio, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 Home and more.

Dubbed an "all-rounder" with that has been "designed with young professionals in mind", Huawei is calling its new  "artistic, innovative and intelligent" with "high performance, extreme portability, great build quality and a stylish look to enable next-generation productivity".

With 11th-gen Intel processors only launching last month, the MateBook 14 doesn't have one - but it still has a very powerful 10-Gen Intel Core i7 Processor capable of 1.8 to 4.9GHz, along with an NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, fingerprint sensor, 14-inch QHD 2160x1440 FullView touchscreen display, USB 2.0, 3.0 and C ports and more, for $2499.

Larking Huang, Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business in Australia, said: “Interconnection and interoperability between PCs and smartphones allows consumers to enjoy a seamless one-stop user experience. Together, they are a key pillar supporting the all-scenario ecosystem, and by extension, Huawei’s all-scenario strategy. Combining premium design, FullView display, high performance and better connectivity features, the HUAWEI MateBook 14 is the perfect, stylish companion for Australian consumers looking for notebooks with extreme portability, high performance and superb all-scenario connectedness.

Here's the official video - the article continues thereafter, please read on!

内蒙快三预测一定牛Huawei is promoting its "signature FullView display", noting that the "top and side bezels measure only 4.9mm", while the 3:2 ratio, which "effectively increases the viewable area by 8.4 percent compared to the more common 16:9 displays".

内蒙快三预测一定牛We're told this ratio makes the MateBook 14 "more ergonomic and better suited for productivity tasks, as it allows content to be displayed in the most complete manner".

内蒙快三预测一定牛It supports a resolution of up to 2160x1440, at 185ppi, also supporting 100% of the sRGB color gamut, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a peak brightness of up to 300nits with a 10-point multi-touch display, along with the recessed camera that hides underneath a key, but which has also been criticised, at least in the past, for pointing upwards at your face rather than being more level with your face as a camera at the top of a notebook's display would be.

Huawei talks up the concept of “Pure & Invisible” because the Matebook 14's design features "an elegant, minimalist metallic chassis, which is sandblasted to create a soft matte finish", weighing in at 1.53kg with dimensions of 307.5 x 223.8 x 15.9mm.

Dubbed as being ideal for "productivity on the go", Huawei points to the 10th-gen Core i7 processor, the 16GB of dual-channel RAM and the "latest high-performance NVIDIA GeForce MX 350 GPU".

There's also a new cooling system called the "HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan 2.0", which boasts "a higher air output and cooling performance thanks to its large fins. The intelligent filtering technology monitors the system temperature and manages the fans in real-time, smoothening the fan curve and ensuring quiet operation".

The built-in 56Wh battery, along with intelligent power saving measures to provide long-lasting endurance promises up to "14.7 hours for 1080P video playback", the ability to "run regular operations for 13.6 hours or browse the internet for 10.7 hours" at 150 nits screen brightness, which is half of the 300 nits the screen is capable of. You're also promised "3 hours of office use" from a 15 minute charge.

内蒙快三预测一定牛It is powered by a 65w USB-C adapter, which can also "SuperCharge" various Huawei smartphones.

A feature for Huawei phone users is Huawei Share, which enables "Multi-screen collaboration", and while this is sadly not available with other Android smartphones, or at least not yet, we're told "the significance of Multi-screen Collaboration lies not only in enabling file transfer between the laptop and smartphone, but also in making seamless collaboration between the laptop and smartphone come true".

Huawei's explanation continues, where it states that "by building on powerful processing capabilities and the basic system capabilities of the MateBook, Huawei was able to clear the obstacle between the basic architecture of Windows and Android systems, realising the full potential of seamlessly connecting the two. At the same time, laptop accessories such as the keyboard and mouse can now be used as peripherals of your smartphone, providing a more convenient and secure user experience, both at home and in the office environment.

"This time, Huawei MateBook 14 comes with more features from upgraded Multi-screen Collaboration, allowing users to seamlessly and efficiently edit files on their phone directly from the laptop screen. In addition, the Multi-screen Collaboration allows smartphones to access the microphone and camera on the laptop, so users can make or answer audio and video calls without picking up the mobile phone".

内蒙快三预测一定牛It's a shame this feature works with Huawei phones only, but  should allow similar functionality for most Android phones running Android 7 or better.

Unlike most notebooks that require you to type in a password before biometric passwords like a fingerprint reader will work, Huawei seems to be indicating that its "two in one" power and fingerprint button will unlock the Matebook 14 when turning it on after being shut down.

Available in "Space Grey", the MateBook 14 is available for $2499 from October 6, at , Mobileciti, and Huawei Authorised Experience Stores located at Chatswood, Sydney and World Square Shopping Centre, Sydney内蒙快三预测一定牛, and "will also be available at selected computer retailers including Scorptec".

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
